Our shared vision:

For each and every student to achieve their maximum potential.

Remote learning for the start of the Spring Term 2021

As you will have seen from my email last night, the Government provided an update yesterday afternoon on the return to school next week. The timing of this update gave schools very little notice to implement the changes and gave extremely limited detail on the new proposals. I contacted you last night to give all parents/carers as much notice as possible to enable you to put into place any arrangements that you may need to make for next week.

Since Gavin Williamson’s statement in the House of Commons at 4.15pm yesterday afternoon, further guidance and details have been released by the Government overnight and therefore I am writing to you again with a further update regarding remote learning provision next week.

Having reviewed the latest government guidance, I am delighted to say that we are now able to offer online lessons to all our students. In addition to the Year 11 and Year 13 lessons confirmed yesterday, we will be providing remote lessons for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. Details of these lessons will be published at the time of the lesson via Satchel:One (ShowMyHomework) with resources attached. Your son/daughter will be able to contact their teacher via email or via Satchel:One (ShowMyHomework) if required. The expectation is that all students follow their timetabled lessons, completing all set work, at home. This is immensely important as we do all that we can, in these difficult circumstances, to avoid disruption to learning.

As with the last lockdown, live video teaching will also be taking place for some lessons. Where a live video lesson will be delivered, details will be posted on Satchel:One (ShowMyHomework) the day before. A non-video version covering the same content will also be set for those unable to access the live video lesson. Expectations for behaviour, effort and application in live video lessons are the same as in a normal Hazelwick classroom. Students need to ensure their camera is on throughout the lesson and that they are dressed appropriately.

These online lessons will take place during the weeks commencing 4th and 11th January.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing understanding and support.

Very best wishes,

Ms A Fearon
