House News...
As we approach the end of the school year, we have many things to celebrate in the House System. Through the exciting events that have happened across the year, hundreds of thousands of points (literally!) have been earned. We finished the year with the Sports Days, which were a huge amount of fun, and helped to finalise the house points table.
Tug of War
This year we introduced a new house competition that got the students ready and excited for Sports Day: House Tug of War! This was an incredibly successful event, with huge numbers of Year 7 and Year 8 students turning up at lunchtime to compete against the other houses. This was a brilliant event, finished off with a teacher Tug of War between Miss Palmer and Miss Pearson!
The results for this competition were as follows:
Winton: 2000
Fry: 1500
Turing: 1000
Duleep Singh: 750
Equiano: 500
Seacole: 250
Congratulations to Winton who managed to take the lead on this one! They won their match in the shortest time – only 6.57 seconds!
Well done to all who took part.
Sports Day
The tensions and temperatures were high as Sports Day approached. House point totals were constantly changing, and it was all to play (or to run) for! It was a joy to see students representing our Hazelwick ethos of ‘Effort achieves’ as every participant, regardless of their event or their overall place, earned their House points.
All students should be incredibly proud of their contributions to the day but especially those in Winton and Fry house. Winton House really put the ‘Win’ into ‘Winton’ by winning three out of the four Sports Days with Fry coming in first for the remaining Sports Day.
Well done, Winton and Fry!
And the overall winner is…
Climbing the ranks this year, Winton have managed to maintain a strong lead and stay on top. From getting achievement points in lessons to earning house points at events, Winton House stayed positive and have truly deserved their spot at the top. Seacole were hot on their heels, and it was a very close race, especially at the end of the year.
Although Winton are the winners this year, every student at Hazelwick should be incredibly proud of themselves, especially if they came to events and helped their house earn more points.
