Library
The library is adjacent to the main reception and is staffed by Mrs Thornton (a chartered librarian) and Mrs Bridgman.
The Library welcomes all Year groups and provides access to a wide range of resources and facilities including:
Junior, teen and adult fiction- Leisure non-fiction titles and some curriculum-related titles
- Free access to the school library ePlatform
- The Times newspapers and a small collection of comics and magazines
- Scanning, printing and photocopying
- A selection of stationery for purchase (we can only accept cash)
- Twelve computers with access to the school network and internet
Membership
Students automatically become members of the library and can borrow up to six items for a period of up to three weeks. Fines are not charged for overdue books, but the replacement cost may be charged for lost and damaged items.
The school library uses the Accessit Library Information Management System and we use the same biometrics system as the canteen.

Recommended Reads
The school library has a wide range of novels and non-fiction titles for students to borrow to encourage reading for pleasure. Library staff will happily recommend stand-alone novels, fiction series and leisure non-fiction titles to students. Check out our popular reading lists below:

Accelerated Reader
Students in Years 7 and 8 have a fortnightly Reading lesson in the library.
Accelerated Reader is used as a tool to guide students to read books at their reading level.
Library books on the scheme are labelled with the book level and we offer a range of books at different AR levels.

Book Club
Mrs Thornton leads a friendly after-school book group for students from all Year groups. Free refreshments are provided.
