Year 7 Geography Field Trip to Cuckmere Haven, South Downs National Park

Year 7 Geography students visited Cuckmere Haven in the South Downs National Park for a day of fieldwork focused on microclimates and the unique geography of this coastal environment

Students worked in small groups to investigate how temperature, wind speed, and shelter vary across different locations – from the river valley to exposed cliff tops. Students used anemometers to collect data and understand how local features influence climate on a small scale.

In addition to their field measurements, students had the chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the South Downs, discuss the importance of conservation in national parks, and reflect on how human and physical geography interact in this dynamic setting.
