University of Bath opportunities - information for students and parents 17.11.20

I am getting in touch to pass on information about the free outreach opportunities the University of Bath is currently running. I apologise for the long list of activities, this is largely due to the fact that our work with Year 12’s is starting to ramp up. With current restrictions in place we are doing all we can to offer them the support they will need to understand their options as well as the  scope of their decisions regarding higher education. We also hope to guide them through the process and give them every chance to make a stand out application. To this end we have some of our key programmes opening this week. I have copied in links to the text below so these can easily be copied into student/parent communications..

For Year 12’s:

Pathway to Bath

Pathway to Bath is flexible, online curriculum enrichment programme which gives students the chance to develop important key skills for university study by completing your  own research project (or similar) while working alongside experienced university staff and current students. The programme includes a summer residential visit to our beautiful campus, to experience all that university life has to offer (Covid-19 restrictions permitting). Please click on the link in the title to find out more and register.

Discover Bath

A summer programme which aims to give students a taste of first-year life and study at Bath. The focus is on a 4-day summer school, where students will work on university level work and students will have some work to do before and afterwards to make the most of the experience. Please click on the link in the title to find out more and register.

To help choose the programme which is the right fit, you can visit our Year 12 Programmes web page here.  If any member of school/college staff would like to speak to someone from the programmes team about these opportunities, please do feel free to get in touch at, or book a call here.

Our Be Ready Thursday webinars continue to run. Of particular interest might be our Academic webinar running on 26th November which is being led by Professor Matt Wills from the Centre for Evolution covering 'What is the Evidence for Evolution?'.  This session will be run as an example of the kind of blended learning students may receive at university. It will be a fantastic opportunity for you to get a sense of undergraduate teaching with a leading academic in his field. More details are available on the webpages for you to see what Matt will be covering. To complement this session you  might also wish to attend our  Note Taking webinar on the 19th November and practise this essential skill when attending Matt’s lecture.

And finally, for all those interested in finding our more about the University of Bath but perhaps of particular interest to Year 12’s.

The University of Bath’s Virtual Open Week is taking place between Monday 23 and Friday 27 November and features live Q&A sessions with our students and staff each day between 4.30 and 6.30 p.m, with different subjects represented each day and a general session on the Friday. These sessions will give you the chance to get answers to the questions you may have about our courses, admissions, accommodation and student life at Bath. To find our more and book your sessions now.
